“An MBA doesn’t just teach business, it teaches perspective, leadership, and the courage to think beyond the obvious.”
We live in a world of digital learning, you can now learn anything and everything at your own pace. But how to choose one that provides exceptional learning experience with top-notch faculties and most importantly at your own pace. In this blog we are going to understand the difference between Online, Open, Distance and Correspondence degrees.
Earlier there were no online degrees available, but all thanks to EdTech space which is promoting online degrees from the Covid times as many stakeholders are investing in this industry because online degrees are considered superior to any other degrees and moreover, they are affordable.
Let us first understand the education system of higher studies. There is a statutory body known as UGC (University Grants Commission) which comes under the Ministry of Education, and it is responsible for managing higher education and making sure all the universities follow standards of teaching and education in India.
There is a unit of UGC known as DEB (Distance Education Bureau) that is responsible for distance education, online education and other similar degrees.
So the question is what exactly is the difference between all of the above mentioned degrees,
Here’s a catch, there is no difference between them. All these degrees are approved by the DEB and are conducted in a similar way.
One should always check the credibility of the institute from where they are planning to enroll. Every University has its own rules and way of examination, which they have set according to their resources. If you enroll in a reputed institute then you can get an upper edge no matter what degree you have pursued.
For example Delhi University has a reputed name and it provides online degrees, distance degrees and open degrees through its School of Open Learning (SOL) and Campus of Open Learning (COL). So enrolling for an online or open degree in it can be a good option to consider rather than doing it from a not so reputed institute.
Whether you want to get into a job or into entrepreneurship, a degree from a reputed institute will help you in the long run, it can make your profile outshine.
The education landscape has evolved to meet the needs of today’s fast-paced learners, and that is a good thing. It provides flexibility to students. Whether you’re upskilling for your career or chasing a long-time passion, understanding the difference between online, distance, and correspondence degrees helps you make a smart, informed decision.
Before enrolling, always check the accreditation, recognition, and support system of the institution. And remember, the best degree is the one that fits your life, not the other way around.
